The GE Vernova Foundation has announced Engineers of Change, a bold new initiative designed to inspire the next generation of engineers, innovators and energy leaders through early exposure to engineering, hands-on learning and direct connections with industry professionals.
Backed by a $4.5 million investment and delivered in partnership with FHI 360, the initiative will engage more than 6,000 students across Staffordshire, UK, and Greenville, South Carolina, over the next three years, helping build stronger pathways into engineering education, training and careers.
In Staffordshire, The Inspirational Learning Group (TILG) will lead programme delivery, building on a long-standing partnership with the GE Vernova Foundation that has already inspired thousands of young people through employer-led engineering outreach and careers education over the past five years.
Designed to make engineering accessible, relevant and engaging, Engineers of Change brings engineering to life through hands-on experiences, practical learning and meaningful connections with industry professionals. The initiative is made up of two complementary programmes designed to inspire students at different stages of their education.
Engineering Spark engages students aged 13–14 in discovering engineering through dynamic, hands-on learning sessions led by GE Vernova engineers and volunteers, helping spark curiosity and expand understanding of what engineering is all about.
Engineering Catalyst is an immersive two-year programme for students aged 15–18, featuring real-world design challenges, college and career readiness workshops, and engagement with GE Vernova engineers. The programme is designed to equip students with the skills and confidence to think like engineers, build a strong engineering identity and pursue post-secondary education, apprenticeships and careers within the engineering sector.
Students who successfully complete Engineering Catalyst will also receive a partial scholarship towards future engineering education and training.
